A Course In Miracles

The lesson that touched my heart most deeply was the one about miracles and work. As a healer by vocation, and with strong empathic tendencies, I could relate to this so well. Life is about what we do with it, not for ourselves, but for the greater good, and in doing this we create miracles around us. Modern society has become lost in consumerism, and selfishness, and in doing so has distorted the true purpose of life. Spiritualism has been lost, religion is struggling, and society is decaying as a result. I fear that these lessons really preach to the converted, but maybe all of us who have taken this course will be able to make small changes that will grow and spread, creating a miracle for society as a whole. 

 This lesson led very readily into the one on addictions and the concept of surrendering things to the higher power, and so gaining relief and peace. This really touched the centre of the lessons, the need for a core belief in a power above, and in the power within us, of freeing and touching these powers and using them to achieve change. Taking this back in the lessons to the creation story, a tale that is told in many forms by many cultures, but one that in all cases shows that we come from the divine power, that we hold the essence of that divine power and that we should respect this power and use it wisely for the greater good of ourselves, of others and of the world. This leads on to the way we use that power. It may be used for healing in ways discussed in the metaphysical healing course, but it may be used to effect change. 

Working from the concept that all in creation is energy, then thoughts and emotions are energy, and thoughts made with intent are capable of creating change. This may be done in a ritual setting, as with spell work of the pagan paths; or done in a prayer setting. However performed, words do have enormous power, should be used wisely and may be used with great effect to create change. Here, the power of negative thoughts is often very apparent, thinking and expecting the worst often makes it happen, and conversely, expecting and really believing in the best will bring that about. The conclusion of all this is that miracles are all around us; we have the power to make them happen, and we should grasp that power and use it for the greater good with the blessing of the divine powers above.
