I don’t exactly see where you see where the Christmas tree, (or its origin), would resemble or be condemned as “occult magic” though. My understanding of the Christmas Tree, (and it’s origin), being that a being that m Apostle of Germany felled an Oak which crushed everything in it’s path other than, (sparing), a small fir sapling. The sparing of this young sapling was reason, (other than the Oak wasn’t considered sacred or inviolable), that the tree would then be called “the tree of the Christ Child). This could be considered representative, (which has become ritualistic perhaps), but where it would be considered “occult magic”, is a little beyond my understanding.

Christmas being over 4000 years old, (the Christmas tree’s origin starting sometime around the year 700), has many older traditions, (many of which could be considered “ritualistic”, or of an occult worship nature), other than the Christmas tree. Christmas, (as church processions), can be traced back to the early Mesopotamians, (as well as many of the Christmas traditions). Though the Mesopotamians believed in many Gods, unless you would be saying that the Christmas tree has some connection to past, (or prior), religions which were “re-introduced”, from a culture that was considered “more” ritualistic, (or “more” cult based than some of our current religions), I don’t see the connection there.This would be like saying that the Bishop, (Nicholas), of Myra, and his gift giving, would be considered of an occult nature. Though a given tradition could be practiced each year, its rituality because of its practice on a regular, (or yearly), basis, wouldn’t exactly classify it as “occult magic”. I guess one could argue that telling children that Santa Clause, (Sinter Klass), and his sled pulled by reindeer, is a little deceiving, though there is a basic and history for these stories and legends. Though, I would consider the giving of gifts as “magical”.
